"I love what I do. Working with the kids is refreshing and fun; they keep me entertained and always make me laugh. I think I have the best job in the world."
I grew up just outside San Diego, CA and lived there until going to college at Brigham Young University. After college I attended dental school at the Ohio State University and discovered that working with the kids was exciting; it brought me a lot of joy and satisfaction. Following dental school I moved to Arizona and completed a two-year specialty program in pediatric dentistry.
Along the way my wife, Brooke, and I grew a family. We now have five children and enjoy raising them here in Reno, where Brooke grew up herself. In our free time, you'll probably find us doing yard work, hiking a trail, swimming at Tahoe, or skiing at Mr. Rose. And when I have nothing else to do, I love to draw, paint, garden, and bike.
As part of my continuing education, I am a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists, and the Northern Nevada Dental Society.Additionally, I recently became a diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. I also attend national and local classes to stay atop the ever changing field of dentistry.
My goal is to make coming to the dentist fun. I hope that by providing a great experience and teaching kids how to successfully take care of their teeth, we can set them up with lives filled with healthy teeth and happy dental visits. "
“I love seeing the positive influence braces can have on a person’s social, emotional, and work life.
I grew up in Las Vegas, NV and lived there until going to college at Brigham Young University. After college I attended dental school at the University of Louisville, KY and immediately following I moved to Saint Louis, MO where I spent an additional 30 months receiving more training through a specialty program in Orthodontics.
While at Brigham Young University my wife and I started our family. By the time we graduated from Orthodontic residency we had 5 children: 3 boys and 2 girls. In our free time we love to swim, snow ski, and ride atv’s and dirt bikes. When I’m not doing those hobbies you’ll probably find me tickling the ivory keys on the piano or eating at my favorite restaurant-- Port of Subs.
I have always taken education seriously. While in dental school I woke up at 3am everyday to study and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Now that I am finished with school I keep similar habits (although the 3am has been changed to a later time). I still study each morning and whenever possible I attend national and local classes to stay atop the new research in my field. I am also a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontist, and the Northern Nevada Dental Society.
With orthodontic treatment we will have several appointments together and I want you to not only enjoy your new look and straight teeth, but also enjoy your visits to our office and develop a close friendship with me and my staff. My hope is that when you are finished with braces you can say, "I really loved my orthodontic experience at My Kid’s Smile!' "
